Activities for pre-school children
We have a range of activities aimed at pre-school children. These include story times, bounce and rhyme and simple craft.
These activities are generally free. A small voluntary donation may be requested for those activities involving crafts (usually 50p). Just choose a day and location convenient to you.
There is generally no need to book however some sessions can get very busy and the library involved may therefore introduce a booking system. It would be wise to check with the library before attending a session for the first time.
A range of stories suitable for children under five, fairly informal - toddlers aren’t always good at sitting still and listening. These sessions last for approximately 30 minutes (dependent on the number and ages of the children attending.) It is expected that accompanying adults will listen with their children and may sit with younger children on their laps.
Bounce and rhyme
This is an interactive way for parents and carers to introduce their babies and toddlers to the fun and enjoyment of sharing nursery rhymes, action songs and simple percussion music. Sessions last approximately 20 minutes and can get noisy.
Simple colouring, cutting and sticking to help children aged 2 to 5 develop manual dexterity, creativity and other pre-reading skills. As these activities involve scissors and glue. Parental supervision is required.
