Advocacy

"Speaking up, speaking out, taking action"

Advocacy is speaking up and speaking out so that people can have the support to say what they want, and taking action to secure their rights and represent their interests. We want more people to be able to do this.

We contacted individuals, health and social care professionals, community organisations and specialist organisations inside and outside the borough.

As a result, we have written an PDF file downloadadvocacy strategy (PDF, 864kb) to help raise awareness and understanding of advocacy, make it easier for people to access it and to help organisations understand what is important when planning their own advocacy support.

It also explores the help people need to self-advocate or the support friends and family need to advocate for someone to make sure that people’s choices are heard.
