Amen Corner Supplementary Planning Document
Background
The Council has converted the Amen Corner Area Action Plan (AAP) into a supplementary planning document (called the Amen Corner Supplementary Planning Document (SPD). It will guide the type and level of development for the site and the measures needed to support the development. A draft of the Amen Corner SPD was published for consultation in November 2009. All comments received were taken account of in preparation of the final version.
The final version of the SPD provides guidance to the construction industry, residents living within or near the site, interest groups and the public on how the Amen Corner area should be redeveloped. The document provides 13 Development Principles and a Concept Plan which together form a comprehensive framework to guide development. With Policy CS4 of the adopted Core Strategy, the SPD is a material consideration in the determination of planning applications affecting the site.
The Council has also published a sustainability appraisal report.
