Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

ASD, sometimes known as autism, is a lifelong condition that affects how a person communicates with, and relates to, other people. Some people with autism are able to live independent lives but others may also have other conditions such as a learning disability and need support throughout their lives.

If you live in Bracknell and would like to know more about a diagnosis of autism, please contact your doctor for a referral.

Autism awareness

The council is committed to raising awareness of autism and an e-learning resource can now be accessed by anyone. The e-learning module is used throughout the council to give staff a basic awareness of autism.

There are also some useful leaflets produced by The National Autistic Society that can be viewed online:

You can also download a leaflet which gives you PDF file downloadinformation to help you spot the signs of autism (PDF, 74kb).
