Be aware of high pressure sales

Bracknell Forest's trading standards team has been contacted about older residents who feel they have been pressurised into buying new gas boilers.
The residents' boiler was condemned by an engineer while it was being serviced and they found themselves without heat or hot water. They say the company employing the engineers then pressurised them into quickly replacing rather than repairing the boiler.
John Nash, Bracknell Forest Council's team manager for trading standards, said: "Gas safety is very important and trading standards would never advise anyone to try to use a boiler which has been condemned by a qualified gas fitter.
"If a boiler has been condemned by a qualified gas fitter, only a qualified gas fitter can remove the notice.
"However, we always recommend that residents don't rush into any contract for goods or services. Our advice is always to get quotes from other Gas Safe registered traders such as those on the council's 'Buy With Confidence' scheme www.buywithconfidence.gov.uk.
"This will either reassure you that the identified work is necessary or confirm you may have been misled.
"If you believe you have been misled please contact us via our partners, the Citizens Advice Bureau, on 08454 04 05 06."
