Read the terms and conditions for brown bins and garden waste collection.
- If you do not pay the collection fee your brown bin will not be collected.
- The council is unable to offer a free of charge removal of your brown bin if you opt out.
- The collection charge is non-refundable.
- There are no part payments if the bin is not presented every collection.
- The collection charge is payable per brown bin.
- The brown bin belongs to you - if you move house, you may take your brown bin with you.
- It is your responsibility to make sure your address is changed with immediate effect if you move.
- If the brown bin goes missing or is stolen, you are liable for the cost of replacing the bin.
- If the bin gets damaged, you are liable for the cost of repair or if the bin is unrepairable, the cost of a replacement.
- Bins that are damaged will not be emptied.
- Bins presented on the incorrect day will not be emptied. You can check your collection day online.
- All garden waste must be contained within the bin with the lid closed, brown bins with waste packed too tightly in the bin or heavier than 75kg will not be collected.
- Soil and turf cannot be disposed of as garden waste, any bins containing soil, turf or other incorrect items will not be emptied.
- Christmas trees will be collected as garden waste but must be cut up and contained within a brown bin or council biodegradable garden waste sack.
- Occasionally garden waste may be frozen and this can cause it to be stuck in the bin, when this happens we may be unable to empty the bin, you will receive a notice on the bin when this happens.
- The council may need to suspend the service at any time. Any missed collections will be added onto the end of subscriptions.
- The annual collection charge covers 25 collections - there will be no garden waste collections for 2 weeks over the festive season.
