Service Standards - Waste Collection and Street Cleansing
Refuse, recycling and garden waste collection
We will collect bins on alternate weeks on specified days, as notified by calendar twice a year, provided the bin is left at the kerbside or at the agreed collection point by 6.30am and it is not over loaded.
Missed refuse or recycling collection
If your bin was put out correctly as described above and we forgot to empty it, we will collect it on the same day if it is reported to us before 3pm. If it is reported after 3pm, the crew will return to collect it by 10am the next day.
Bulky household collection
Bulky household items will be collected within five days from the date on which payment is received, provided it is outside the property and as close as possible to the kerb. Residents will be notified which day it will be collected by the contractor.
Assisted collection
If you have completed the Assisted Collection Request Form and we have agreed that you need help, your bins and/or boxes will be collected from a convenient place.
Clinical waste collection
If we have agreed that you need a clinical waste collection, we will provide a weekly collection service. Waste must be put in either the orange or yellow bag we give you. For more information about this service and which bag to use, please look at our clinical waste collection page.
Replacement or new waste containers
These will be delivered within five days of receiving your order.
Reports of dumped rubbish, litter, dog mess and dead animals on the streets
The Council's contractor will endeavour as far as possible to clear this within 24 hours of receiving the call. Larger fly tips where additional equipment is required or hazardous waste which will require a specialist contractor may take longer, but we will endeavour to clear as soon as possible.
Street Cleansing
We will maintain streets to the Code of Practice standard in every area of the borough every 8 to 12 weeks.
Graffiti
General graffiti reported will be removed within 24 hours and offensive graffiti within two hours.
Broken glass and hypodermic needles
The contractor will try to remove these within two hours of notification.
