How to apply
Registered voters can choose to vote at any election by post.
If you would like to register for a postal vote please download and print a postal vote application form.
The deadline for postal vote applications to be received by the Electoral Services team at the time of an election is 5pm, eleven working days before polling day.
What happens next?
The Electoral Services team will always confirm receipt of your application in writing, usually within five working days. If you have not received confirmation within this time please contact us.
Once you are registered as a postal voter, your postal vote will be sent around eight working days before an election. You will receive the relevant ballot paper(s), a postal voting statement and instructions and a return envelope. You will need to complete the ballot paper(s) and postal voting statement and return them to the electoral office in the envelope provided by 10pm on polling day.
