Building Control Advice
Bracknell Forest Council is one of approximately 370 public sector providers of building control services in England and Wales.
What is building control?
Building Control is primarily concerned with the health and safety of people in and around buildings, ensuring buildings are constructed in a safe and stable manner, comply with energy conservation requirements and have suitable access and facilities for building users. This is exercised during the course of construction work through the implementation of the Building Regulations Approved Documents and associated documents and British Standards.

Pre-application advice
As part of your Building Regulations submission process we are available to provide free pre-application advice to ensure that your project will comply with the technical standards required.
Plan checking
A plans examination service which comes highly recommended, according to our customer surveys. As part of this service you will receive a concise list of any information required or where Regulations have not been met in part of your application.
Site inspections
We will carry out as many site inspections as necessary to ensure your building work complies with the Building Regulations. If your request for inspection is received before 10am we will endeavour to attend the site on the same day if this is required. You can request an inspection 24 hours a day on 01344 351106 leaving your name, phone number and address to which the inspection relates. Alternatively, you can use our online booking form.
Local Knowledge
Our team consists of a highly professional and experienced group of surveyors. We therefore have a wealth of local knowledge, and being based within the Council, we have excellent links and communication with other statutory bodies such as those related to planning, highways, environmental health and fire safety.
Partnership Scheme for businesses
We actively encourage use of the LABC Partner Authority Scheme so that companies that operate in several areas of the country can have a one-to-one working relationship with a preferred local authority for advice and plan appraisal, irrespective of the location of the construction project.
Warranty Scheme
Through the LABC we are able to provide information for obtaining a competitive and comprehensive warranty via the LABC New Home Warranty or LABC Latent Gold for commercial applications.
Dealing with Dangerous structures
We deal with dangerous structures on a 24 hour, 365 days a year basis to ensure the safety of the public. To report a dangerous structure please contact us.
Issue of Demolition Notices
We are responsible for the issuing of demolition notices for the demolition of buildings within Bracknell Forest.
Personal Searches of Building Control Records
When undertaking a direct Personal Search of Building Control records in relation to a CON29, please use our 
Building Control Request for Search Form (23kb).
This should be delivered to the public reception at Time Square or returned by post or email using the contact details on the right-hand side of this page.
We aim to provide the required information within 4 working days of receiving the form. The response from the Building Control Team can be collected from the public counter in Time Square upon payment of the appropriate charge for the question(s) required. Please contact us to ensure that your information is ready for collection before coming to collect it.
