Bus pass for older persons and disabled people
Bus passes for eligible people that have successfully applied are included on their e+ smartcard. Therefore, if you already hold an e+ smartcard, we may be able to process your application for a bus pass by telephone on 01344 352000. This will only apply if your name and address has not changed, your photograph remains a true likeness and your date of birth has already been verified. If you do not hold an e+ smartcard you will need to apply for one. Please visit our How do I get an e+ card? page.
Please see the important changes to the qualifying age for bus passes.
If you are disabled, you will need to bring your documentary proof of disability into our Time Square Council office to complete your application. View which proofs will be accepted.
Your e+ bus pass lasts for up to five years. The expiry date is printed on your pass next to your photo. You can contact the council to renew your pass up to one month prior to the expiry date. Find out more about renewing your bus pass.
This council offers a subsidised railcard as an alternative to a bus pass to the over 65s and disabled people. These railcards give holders a third off most standard and first-class rail fares across Great Britain for a whole year.
Senior railcards for people over 65 years old
Please use our application form to apply for a railcard or to renew your existing one. You can also use it to apply for a concessionary bus pass once your current rail concession has expired. Please note that you can not hold a bus pass and a subsidised railcard at the same time. Please bring the completed form to our council office in Time Square.
Renewal of subsidised railcards for over 65s
We will write to you at the address on our records about two weeks before your railcard expires. You can then apply for renewal of the subsidised railcard by post.
Please apply to National Rail for your first Disabled Persons Railcard. There is no subsidy on your first railcard. Please contact us on 01344 351200 before you renew your Disabled Person's Railcard for the first time and we will explain how we can issue a voucher you can send to the office in Newcastle for a subsidised Disabled Person's Railcard.
You can use our application form to renew your Disabled Person's Railcard. You can also use it to apply for a concessionary bus pass once your current rail concession has expired. Please note that you can not hold a bus pass and a subsidised railcard at the same time. Please bring the completed form to our council office in Time Square.
