Street parking - restrictions

Yellow Lines

The council provides yellow lines on the highway where there is a need to restrict parking to help alleviate traffic flow and prevent obstructive or dangerous parking.

Double or single yellow lines along the edge of the road also apply to the pavement and verge. You may, however, load and unload goods or set down and pick up passengers, unless the signs or road markings specifically indicate you cannot.

To introduce waiting restrictions a traffic regulation order needs to be made. This process requires consultation with all interested parties such as residents, town/parish councils and Thames Valley Police. This is followed by a public advertisement, with public notices posted on site and in the local newspaper.

If you think that parking restrictions should be reviewed, please contact us with your reasons.
