Greener Gardening
Private gardens can play a fundamental role in brightening up Bracknell Forest’s visual environment but they can also make an important contribution to the borough’s biodiversity. Gardens can provide vital habitat for wildlife and native plant species and also help us to recycle garden and kitchen waste through composting.
However, some gardening practices can have a detrimental affect on the wider environment. The excessive use of garden chemicals to control pests and diseases and watering using mains water supplies can have a negative impact on the environment.
There are lots of different things you can do in the garden to reduce these negative impacts and encourage the positive.
For further information and advice on greener gardening visit the Royal Horticultural Society website.
Then then why not consider entering Bracknell’s local gardening competition Your Gardens which has special awards for wildlife and environmentally friendly gardening.
