Free insulation offer from British Gas
Anyone over 70 and with British gas as their fuel provider is entitled to have works done free for both cavity and loft insulation (depending on the existing level of insulation installed). If the current level of loft insulation is 60 cms or less it can easily be topped up to the current recommended depth of 10 inches at no charge. This will help retain warmth in the home and with increasing fuel prices, save you money.
If you paid for this, typical prices for each measure are between £200 and £300. To take advantage of this free offer, please call British Gas on 0845 971 7731 quoting 'BRAC'. We recommend you call as soon as possible as this offer is likely to be extremely popular.
Alternatively, if you buy your fuel from another supplier, for example, Npower, EION, Powergen or Scottish and Southern they will all have similar offers and you can call them. Details can be found on your bills.

Council and British Gas join forces for cavity wall insulation: £50 rebate!
Bracknell Forest Borough Council has teamed up with British Gas to offer reduced price cavity wall insulation and a £50 rebate towards your council tax.
It costs about £250 to insulate an average sized home, but it can lead to annual savings of at least £100 on heating bills.
Any resident can take up the home insulation offer, by paying the full cost to British Gas who arrange for the work to be carried out. The British Gas-funded £50 will then be sent out by the Council. All work carried out is the responsibility of British Gas or their contractors.
Homeowners who receive certain income or disability-related benefits may qualify for the work to be done free of charge; but will not receive the rebate.
To apply, call 0845 971 7731 and quote reference 'BRAC'. Lines are open 8am-8pm Monday-Friday and 8am-1pm on Saturday.
An estimate of the cost will be given over the phone, based on the size and type of property. An accurate quote can be provided after a free no obligation property survey.
The Warm Front Team, funded by the Government, offers grants of up to £2,700 to make your home warmer and help to lower your fuel bills. Bracknell Forest Borough Council is working with Warm Front to make sure that all residents living in their own or privately-rented properties have the opportunity to benefit from a warmer and healthier home. If you are over 60 or have a child under the age of 16, or/and you receive an income-related benefit, you may qualify for a grant! If you receive a disability benefit, you may also qualify for help. At present all residents who are in receipt of income-related benefits may qualify for free cavity wall and loft insulation. For those living in rented accommodation, permission is needed from your landlord and you will need to have the written permission of your landlord for the surveyor to see.
