Easthampstead Conservation Area
Easthampstead was the second neighbourhood to be built in accordance with the Bracknell Master Plan between 1958-1962, forming part of the original New Town. Point Royal, a seventeen storey block of residential flats, provides the focal point of the area. The Borough Council considers that the architecture of the buildings and their relationship with surrounding spaces and landscaping, together with the historical association of the neighbourhood, merit conservation area status (designated on 7th November 1996). Point Royal is the only block of high rise flats in Bracknell. Although it was reluctantly accepted at the time of its construction, it is now seen to have been ahead of its time in terms of its unique design. Point Royal is a Grade II listed building.
