Crowthorne Conservation Area

This conservation area mainly lies within a triangular area of land defined by Duke's Ride to the north, Waterloo Road to the south and the High Street to the east. The area comprises of two distinct character zones. To the east, is the residential development comprising of large detached and semi-detached villas lining the lane to the north of the church which forms the focal point for this character zone. The eastern end of the conservation area, by contrast, is smaller in scale and commercial in character. These two distinctive zones are significant elements in the development of Crowthorne from the middle of the 19th century. Many of the original buildings survive today and the original character of the historic pattern is clearly legible in the present townscape.
