Limiting the Impact of Development Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) SA/SEA

The Limiting the Impact of Development (LID) SPD provides detailed guidance to those involved in the planning application process on infrastructure or other requirements to mitigate any negative impacts of development. The document also sets out thresholds and formulae, where appropriate, to ensure consistency, transparency and accountability.

The Sustainability Appraisal (incorporating a Stratgegic Environmental Assessment) for the LID SPD has now been completed. The Sustainability Appraisal process was prepared at the same time as the SPD so that it informed the strategy throughout production thereby ensuring that sustainable development objectives were fully integrated.

The Sustainability Appraisal Process followed the procedure outlined in government guidance. Consultation throughout the appraisal process has also been in accordance with relevant regulations, government guidance and the Borough Council’s Statement of Community Involvement. Feedback from the consultation process has been documented in the Final Sustainability Appraisal Report, which can be downloaded on the right-hand side of this page.

The LID SPD was adopted in July 2007 and a Sustainability Statement was produced, which provides a non-technical summary of the decision-making process, the public’s involvement and how the recommendations of the Sustainability Appraisal Report have been taken into account in the adopted LID SPD. This document can also be downloaded from the download section on the right-hand side of this page.
