Local Development Framework

Bracknell Town CentreThe Bracknell Forest Borough Local Development Framework comprises a number of individual documents that together will guide the future development of the Borough. There are two types of document – Development Plan Documents and Supplementary Planning Documents. They will eventually replace the policies and proposals contained in the adopted Bracknell Forest Borough Local Plan. The documents that currently form the Local Development Framework for the Borough are:

  • The Local Development Scheme is a three-year project plan setting out the timetable for the preparation of documents that will form the Local Development Framework. Click on the link above to find out more about the documents that we are working on.
  • The Statement of Community Involvement identifies the ways in which the Council will seek to increase public involvement in the planning process. It sets out who will be consulted, when and how they can get involved, and the resources for carrying out consultation.
  • The Annual Monitoring Report assesses the implementation of the Local Development Scheme, and looks at how well the policies set out in documents are being delivered.
  • The Core Strategy sets out the long-term planning framework for the Borough up to 2026. It identifies the strategy for the location of new development, promotes regeneration of Bracknell town centre and identifies two new broad locations for growth at Amen Corner and land north of Whitegrove and Quelm Park.
  • Bracknell Forest Borough Parking Standards Supplementary Planning Document sets out the Council’s car and cycle parking requirements for housing and other developments.
  • Limiting the Impact of Development Supplementary Planning Document sets out the community facilities such as schools and play areas, and other infrastructure sought in association with new development in the borough.
  • Designing for Accessibility Supplementary Planning Document gives guidance to those who are planning, designing and implementing the built environment and details the standards of accessibility that the authority is looking to be achieved in all development.

This page will be updated as soon as work is completed on documents that form part of the Local Development Framework. For information on work in progress, visit The Local Development Scheme page.
