Graffiti - reporting and removal

You can report graffiti using our online form. The form takes about 5 minutes to complete.

The estimated cost to the country of removing graffiti is over £1 billion a year. Bracknell Forest Council is responsible for removing graffiti from their land. Graffiti found on items such as telephone boxes, bus shelters and electricity boxes is the responsibility of the company that owns them, for example telecoms and utility companies. Although private buildings are not the local authority’s responsibility we will often assist with removal. The council’s street cleansing contractor, Ringway, operates a graffiti removal service for all public sites and adopted roads that are managed by the council.

Underpasses

There are 79 underpasses in Bracknell Forest. Most of them have been decorated with murals and have a protective graffiti-resistant coating. This initiative by the council contributed to the award of Beacon Status.

Graffiti - the law

Those caught causing graffiti can be prosecuted under the Criminal Damage Act 1971. If the damage caused is less than £5,000 the maximum fine is £5,000. Young offenders may be given a community service order.
