Charles Square Multi-Storey Car Park

Charles Square public car park operates on a mix of season ticket usage and automated variable charge cash payments on exit and has disabled badge holder spaces. Free, covered and secure parking is provided for bicycles and motorcycles.
This car park is open 24 hours. Lifts and stairs allow pedestrian access to all levels. A CCTV system with 24 hour recording is in operation in selected areas within this car park. Regular security patrols are undertaken within this car park during the charging periods when the car park is attended.
A car valeting scheme is currently operating within this car park.
Opening Times Charging Periods: Monday - Wednesday and Saturday between 7.30am to 7.30pm Thursday - Friday between 7.30am to 8.00pm.

High Street Multi-Storey Car Park

High Street public car park operates on a mix of season ticket usage and automated variable charge cash payments on exit and has disabled badge holder spaces. This car park is open 24 hours. Lifts and stairs allow pedestrian access to all floors. Free, covered and secure parking is provided for bicycles and motorcycles.
Public toilet facilities - Gents and Ladies, are available on level 2. Toilet facilities for disabled are available on level 4 and are accessible with a 'RADAR' type key.
A CCTV system with 24 hour recording is in operation in selected areas within this car park. Regular security patrols are undertaken within this car park during the charging periods when the car park is attended.

Season Tickets (High Street and Charles Square Car Parks)
Season tickets have been made available for the High Street and Charles Square car parks as the Council realises that they are used by those who work in the town as well as visitors and shoppers.
A limit has been placed on the number of season tickets available for sale, but they are still available for both car parks as this number has not yet been reached.
Please note, however, that the Council does not reserve specific car park spaces for individual users (except spaces marked out for disabled badge holders) and does not guarantee a right to admission if the car park is full.
Charges
Charges for season tickets are set each year by the Council’s Environment Executive for each period (April to March). If a season ticket is purchased part-way through this period, the user will be charged an amount that is proportionate to the remaining time left in that period, though with an additional charge added in order to account for the quarterly charges set by the Council.
Season ticket charges from 1 April 2008 at High Street multi-story car park are:
- 6 day annual - £1100.00
- 6 day quarterly - £365.00
- 5 day annual (Mon – Friday) - £1020.00
- 5 day quarterly (Mon – Friday) - £340.00
- Replacement lost ticket - £32 each ticket.
Season ticket charges from 1 April 2008 at Charles Square multi-story car park are:
- 6 day annual - £1065.00
- 6 day quarterly - £355.00
- 5 day annual (Mon – Friday) - £995.00
- 5 day quarterly (Mon – Friday) - £335.00
- Replacement lost ticket - £32 each ticket.
All charges are inclusive of VAT, and all season tickets are sold on a non-refundable basis.
Once issued to a user, a season ticket will remain valid in normal circumstances as long as the user continues to pay the Council’s charges and does not abuse the car park. The actual cards themselves are periodically changed to account for normal wear and tear. If, however, a season ticket is relinquished then the user does not have an automatic right to have it renewed.

Charges £6.50 each + £32.00 administration charge for up to 200 tickets (inclusive of VAT).
