Mill Lane Footbridge Construction Project

These pages contain information about the construction works during the replacement of  the footbridge that spans the A3095 Mill Lane, linking the areas of Great Hollands and Easthampstead. Please click on the links on the right-hand side of this page to find more information about the project.

Following completion of inspections and concrete investigations at the Mill Lane Footbridge, a value engineering exercise was carried out to determine how best to improve the condition of the footbridge. The bridge is an important infrastructure link, used by school children as a route to school. Its continued functionality during the construction of the new bridge was therefore of high importance.

The new bridge has a wider structure for both cyclists and pedestrians. The old footbridge remained open, apart from brief necessary closures, during the construction works to ensure that this important community link was maintained.

Following completion of the new footbridge, the old bridge was demolished and the area is being landscaped to maintain the woodland nature of the area.
