Taxi Ranks
The Council is responsible for ensuring provision of designated taxi ranks at key areas within the authority boundaries. Taxi ranks should be sited so that passengers board or alight from the taxi onto the footway on the nearside of the vehicle.
Ideally, taxi ranks should be located adjacent to railway, bus and coach stations, and major attractions, such as retail areas, places of employment and entertainment/leisure centres.
Can any type of taxi use the taxi ranks?
Taxi ranks can only be used by licensed hackney carriages. Private hire vehicles cannot ply for hire or use taxi ranks.
