Traffic Lights

Traffic signals are used to improve road safety and assist traffic movements. They can also help pedestrians and cyclists cross the road in safety and provide better priority for public transport.

The Council is responsible for the maintenance of existing traffic signal equipment including signal-controlled junctions and pedestrian crossings. We are also responsible for the assessment, design and implementation of new signal installations.

We will review requests for new signals, taking into account vehicle flow, safety records, highway factors and financial implications. Requests should be made in writing by letter to:

Traffic and Safety Group

or by email to Customer Services - customer.services@bracknell-forest.gov.uk

Damaged or Broken Lights

If traffic signals are damaged in any way use the “Report damage to the highway” online form on the right to report damage to the Highway Maintenance Department.

The form takes about 5 minutes to complete online and you can monitor your progress using the progress bar at the bottom of the screen.

Do not touch the equipment or any exposed wires.

Timings

If you are unhappy with the timings of the lights in a particular area, the Council will investigate your concerns by analysing traffic flows to determine whether alterations are necessary, and whether changes to the timings would benefit the majority of motorists using the junction. Requests should be made in writing (by letter or by email) to the Traffic and Safety Group using the contact details above.
