Berkshire Highways Authorities & Utilities Committee (HAUC)
The Highway Authorities and Utilities Committee (HAUC) was established in 1986 by the constituent bodies of the local Highway Authorities and the Utilities to assist the Secretary of State in arriving at proposals for new street works legislation.
HAUC played a significant role in the drawing up of the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 (NRSWA), its subsidiary legislation and associated Codes of Practice. HAUC has different levels cascading down from the National HAUC to regional and local HAUCs. Berkshire HAUC reports to the South East HAUC which in turn reports to national HAUC.
The highway authority side of HAUC is represented by the Joint Authorities Group (JAG UK). The utilities side is represented by the National Joint Utilities Group (NJUG).
