Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD)

The Foot and Mouth Surveillance Zone that affected northern areas of Bracknell Forest borough was lifted at 5pm on Monday, 5 November 2007. The zone, which included parts of North Ascot, Cranbourne, Woodside and Winkfield Martins Heron, Maiden's Green, Chavey Down and part of Swinley Park was set up after outbreaks of Foot and Mouth Disease in Surrey. From 31 December 2007, the remaining restrictions on the movement of Foot & Mouth susceptible animals and their export to other EU countries were removed.

Defra has set up a comprehensive section on their website, covering many different aspects of the precautions and restrictions put in place to control and eradicate outbreaks. Visit the Foot and Mouth Section on the Defra website to find out more.
