Bike Week 2009
Bike Week, the annual cycling celebration, which took place from 13 to 21 June in 2009, was enjoyed by many in Bracknell Forest.
There was a bike try out roadshow in Bracknell town centre on Saturday 20 June. Hundreds of shoppers and residents tried out a range of both practical and fun cycles, blended a smoothie drink by pedal power, or took away copies of the Council’s new cycle map and leaflet.
Many local workers cycled to work during the week, and entered the Council’s Bike to Work competition. The winner of the prize draw was Ken Wellman from Cable and Wireless, who chose a family pass to Coral Reef Waterworld as his prize.
Families enjoyed a six-mile, ranger-guided bike ride exploring the cycle ways and green parks of Bracknell Forest. The ride was combined with a treasure hunt for children.
