Walk to School Week

Walk through Lily Hill Park17 - 21 May 2010

Walk to School Week is a national event which encourages sustainable travel to school. This also includes cycling, scooting and skating too. If you live too far to walk all the way to school, you can set up a Park and Stride, like the Holly Spring and College Town schools did last year.

Resources for Teachers

You can set up a walking zone, or a voluntary car free zone, around your school. To qualify for walk to school week incentives, pupils must either walk all the way to school, or be dropped off outside the walking zone. This lesson plan shows you how.

This group of four lesson plans includes using stepometers, working with maps, involving the school council and understanding climate change.

Some useful ideas on how the whole school can get involved in walk to school week.
