Golfers had the ultimate drive for Charity Golf Day
2 May 2017
Enthusiastic golfers from throughout the borough were ‘hunting for birdies’ when they took part in a Charity Golf day at the Downshire Golf Course in aid of the Mayor’s Charity, Sebastian’s Action Trust on 28 April 2017.
The Mayor of the Borough of Bracknell Forest, Cllr Tony Virgo, was delighted that the event had another sell out year and raised £1,825 for his chosen charity.
The teams of players tucked into bacon rolls and coffee on arrival, received a goodie bag, had the use of the driving range for some pre-match practice, played 18 holes of golf, then enjoyed a two-course meal, prize giving and a charity raffle in the club house.
The winning team was The Fore, second was Aran Partnership, and in third place was Baxter the Wall. All 3 teams are regular attendees at the event.
The Mayor, Cllr Tony Virgo, said: “I want to thank everyone for attending the golf day today and making it such a success. I saw some of the practise shots and they were really impressive. Downshire is such a great course and the golfers always have a good time.”
