Hospice and end of life care

Hospice care

Hospices provide care specifically for terminally ill people and support to their carers both in the hospice and at home. Some hospices can also provide respite care for carers and those they care for.

Admission is arranged through your doctor or hospital consultant. Some private nursing and rest homes also specialise in the care of the terminally ill. Please ask your doctor or hospital consultant for details of such homes in your area.

Hospice at home or end of life care in your own home

People who are at the end of life can be supported in their own homes by a multi professional team including nurses and support workers.   Please talk to your doctor, district nurse or social worker for further details.
