14-19 Partnership
In 2005 the government published the 14-19 Education and Skills White Paper which outlined a programme of reform focussing on how young people would learn between the ages of 14-19 years old.
The Bracknell Forest 14-19 Partnership provides strategic leadership of the response to the challenges of 14-19 reform. The partnership meets regularly to discuss a number of issues relating to the development of education and training provision. In 2008, the Partnership and the Borough Council approved the 14-19 Education Plan, covering the period up to 2013. This includes the schedule for the implementation of the new Diploma qualifications.
The 14-19 Partnership is comprised of representatives from all secondary schools (including Kennel Lane and College Hall) , Bracknell & Wokingham College, the L.A., Thames Valley Learning & Skills Council, Connexions Berkshire and the East Berkshire Education Business Partnership.
The implementation of the Diploma lines of learning has been the main focus of work for all providers, with all schools and the Bracknell and Wokingham College working collaboratively. As a result, Bracknell Forest will be able to offer all young people a variety of diploma lines and new learning opportunities which will mean that students are no longer restricted to courses and subjects offered at their own school. As diplomas are implemented form 2010, young people will be able to access those offered by other local schools or colleges.
The Berkshire Online Prospectus (www.bops.org.uk) has also been implemented. This enables young people and parents to access information about courses available at all schools, colleges and training providers within the area to young people post-16. This website will continue to develop as we are able to offer all learners aged 14-plus a wide variety of courses and subjects. Young people aged 16-plus will also have the opportunity to make applications for continuing education and training (including apprenticeships) at all the local schools and colleges online.
The 14-19 Partnership is continuing to enhance learning for all young people in the borough through collaboration.
