Services for Children and Families
Extended services form part of a programme to improve the life chances and opportunities for all children, young people and their families so that the five ‘Every Child Matters’ (ECM) outcomes are met. These outcomes are that children should:
Extended services in a wider ECM context improve outcomes for children and young people by:
- Tackling barriers to learning
- Providing the basis to early intervention
- Improving integration of children’s services focused on the needs of the child and family
- Giving pupils more opportunities through extended services
Area Steering Groups and Children Centre Areas
There are six Area Steering Groups (ASGs) across the borough which look at 'Extended Services In and Around Schools':
Crowthorne
Great Hollands, Hanworth and Birch Hill
North Bracknell
Sandhurst
South Bracknell
Winkfield, Cranbourne and North Ascot
Children's Centres
Children’s Centres also feature as part of the broad extended service agenda. These are places where children under 5 years old and their families can receive integrated services and information, and where they can access help from multi-disciplinary teams of professionals. Centres will provide a range of services depending on local need and parental choice.
