09/03/05 - Elizabeth Noble

An audience of over sixty people had a thoroughly enjoyable evening with the best-selling fiction author, Elizabeth Noble, whose novels include:
- The Reading Group
- The Tenko Club
Elizabeth informed everyone (in a very amusing and enthralling manner), how she came up with the ideas for her novels, how she chose the 12 novels which feature in ‘The Reading Group’ and she even gave an insight into what her next novel, (The Alphabet Weekend), would be about.
Lizzie not only writes novels, she lives with her husband and two daughters in a haunted vicarage in Guildford, belongs to several reading groups, does the washing for her 24 year old stepson, and for her latest novel spent time jumping off a viaduct and gambling in Las Vegas – all in the name of research, (tax deductible of course). Lizzie has just been shortlisted in the April British Book Awards for ‘Best Romantic novel – The Tenko Club’ and ‘Best Fiction Newcomer – The Reading Group’.
Lizzie involved the audience by inviting questions about her and her writing. She gave a very amusing account of her morning sitting in the make-up room next to Natasha Kaplinsky and Dermot Murnaghan on the BBC breakfast show and said she would be up until the early hours that night discussing her novels with a reading group in Arkansas, USA, on a speaker phone!
All in all a very enjoyable evening and everyone is looking forward to the next author event at Bracknell Library on 11th May 2005 with the world famous author Cynthia Harrod Eagles.
