Governor Development Programme
Our aim is to provide a blend of training courses, workshops and briefings which will assist all governors to gain the skills necessary to effectively support their schools.
Getting off to a good start ….the value of induction training!
Every year we welcome approximately 100 new individuals into school governance. All are sent induction packs of information and are invited to attend induction training. We know from experience and feedback that governors who attend the induction training gain a better understanding of their role and can therefore benefit their governing body by being more effective at an earlier stage in their term of office. Please take advantage of the sessions offered to you in your welcome letter.
All governors receive a copy of the Governor and Clerk Development Programme with regular updates of courses being provided.
All courses, unless otherwise stated, will be held at Bracknell Forest Education Centre, Easthampstead Park, Wokingham, RG40 3DF. View map of how to find Bracknell Forest Education Centre.

Briefing sessions are held on a termly basis for Chairmen, Clerks and Link Governors. Booking is not required for these sessions.
The Executive Member for Education and the Director of Social Care & Learning will join Chairmen of Governors for this termly meeting. Current initiatives will be discussed and it provides an opportunity for the Chairmen to discuss issues with the Executive Member for Education and the Director in person.

CLERKS' BRIEFING
An opportunity for clerks to receive a briefing on topics for the forthcoming term, to be discussed by the full governing body.
An agenda will be sent to Clerks prior to the briefing meeting. Clerks' Briefing Papers will be circulated at each meeting.

To give link governors the opportunity to meet with the Governor Services team to discuss current and future training needs. An opportunity for the exchange of good practice and experience of individual governing bodies.
