Bracknell is a small, friendly and highly effective local authority located to the west of London in Berkshire. We have 31 primary schools, six secondary schools (including one academy), one special school and one Pupil Referral Unit.
Our goal as a local authority is to deliver excellent services to our schools by working in partnership, and enabling them to provide an excellent all round education to their pupils. To do this we appoint the highest quality staff and want you to work with us.

Our Schools
We are proud of our schools’ achievements. By recruiting high-quality teaching and support staff, we are able to encourage our pupils to achieve high standards and maximise their potential.
There are many different types and sizes of schools within Bracknell Forest, each with their own characteristics, merits and strengths.
All our primary schools are very well equipped with interactive whiteboard and broadband technology. All participate in the Healthy Schools programme and several have attained Artsmark and Sportsmark awards. Our results are above the national average. Many exciting initiatives are happening in our schools.
Bracknell Forest has invested heavily in our secondary schools, helping to raise standards and make them an exciting place to learn. Many of our secondary schools have been credited with specialist status awards including maths and computing, technology, business and enterprise, arts, science and physical education.

Professional Development
The Bracknell Forest Professional Development Programme is designed to support you in your new and future role. Our programme will assist you throughout your teaching career, enabling you to constantly update your skills and share experiences with others. There are opportunities for teachers at all stages of their careers from tailored support for NQTs to the Leadership Development Centre for aspiring headteachers and leaders.
We also actively promote opportunities for Excellent and Advanced Skills Teachers.
Many of our schools have Investors in People status recognising the importance placed on staff development.
Salaries and Allowances
As a Teacher, you are bound by national conditions of service and Bracknell Forest pay for teachers includes the Outer London Fringe Allowance. We are the most westerly LA to be able to pay this.
As a Newly Qualified Teacher, if you have a significant amount of relevant experience this can be taken into account when setting your starting salary. Many schools pay newly qualified teachers from 1 July.
Additional Educational Services in Bracknell Forest
Education Centre - Bracknell Forest LA has a dedicated Education Centre the purpose of which is to provide a stimulating and well-resourced base to support the training of teachers and school staff.
The centre is located at Easthampstead Park Conference Centre mansion house in a rural area between Bracknell and Wokingham, within easy reach of all of our schools.
The facilities on offer include: -

- Resource Rooms packed full of materials and ideas
- A number of key advisory staff are also based here - particularly the Literacy and Numeracy Consultants
Young People in Sport - Bracknell Forest’s Young People in Sport scheme is organised by the Leisure Services and Education departments.

Berkshire Maestros - The Young Musician’s Trust - Bracknell Forest maintains strong links with Berkshire Maestros who offer instrumental and vocal lessons and activities such as orchestras, bands, ensembles, choirs.. In Primary Schools the Trust provides an introduction to music for infant school pupils with the Kindermusik classes.
To assist progress and the development of musical skills and understanding, pupils are encouraged to participate in as many appropriate activities as possible.
