Longhill Park

Woodland AreaLonghill Park is a 23 acre (9.3 hectare) situated between Long Hill Road and Harvest Ride, in the Winkfield parish of Bracknell.

Facilities and key features

  • Longhill Park consists of a hay meadow, woodland, playground and the largest BMX skate park in the borough
  • Popular with dog walkers, family and children
  • The site is designated a Local Wildlife Site because plants and animals flourish in its habitats
  • The Bullfinch, one of Bracknell Forest's Biodiversity Action Plan species, can be seen regularly at this site
  • The park is part of the Cut Countryside Corridor, which is a group of public open spaces currently undergoing enhancement works as a Suitable Alternative Natural Greenspace (SANG)

History

Longhill Park was formerly a refuse site that has since been reclaimed for wildlife and public recreation purposes.

How to get there

The main car park for the site is accessed from Long Hill Road, Bracknell, RG12 9UD. There are four pedestrian access paths to Long Hill Park, as follows:

  • At the junction of Long Hill Road / Harvest Ride
  • The northern point of Harvest Ride
  • The rear of Timline Green
  • The rear of Milman Close.

The site is generally flat and reasonably accessible for the mobility-impaired.

Cycling is permitted along the track to the south west of the site.

The Cut Countryside Corridor route forms a circular walk from Tinkers and Jocks Copse in the east to Larks Hill in the west with linking sites between.
