Discover local wildlife

Orchards

Bracknell Forest has a rich and diverse wildlife and countryside, with over 20% of the total area protected by local designations, including Local Nature Reserves and Local Wildlife Sites. There are also European designated sites including 9 Site’s of Special Scientific Interest (SSSIs), a Special Protected Area and a Special Area of Conservation (SAC).

Our aim is to conserve and enhance biodiversity in Bracknell Forest through the following 4 objectives:

  • Comprehensive Monitoring
  • Proactive Policies
  • Positive Management and
  • Effective Communication (see Biodiversity Action Plan)

To help deliver our ambitions for biodiversity, we will work in partnership with Parish Councils, landowners, local conservation and voluntary groups, as well as neighbouring authorities and national bodies.
