Paws in the Park 2008
Dogs and their owners are invited annually to the free Paws in the Park event at Westmorland Park in Warfield. This July, the event was even bigger and better than in previous years with all manner of demonstrations, advice, display teams, judged competitions, charity stalls and stands from local canine-related businesses. Dog owners came along to enjoy doggie games, displays and some good old handling challenges!
What’s it all about?
The Council’s Parks and Countryside Service holds this annual family event to help promote responsible dog ownership and to give something back to dog walkers, who are some of the most regular users of our local parks and open spaces.
What happened?
The event included arena displays by Berkshire Search and Rescue Dogs and Oakwood Park Kennels with many stalls from various dog related-charities such as the RSPCA, local businesses and the Moor Cottage Veterinary Hospital, where information and advice was available.
A schedule of the day is available for download to the right of this page.
Awards
There were competitions for both dogs and walkers to take part in including ‘Waggiest Tail’ and ‘Best Trick’. There were also guided dog walks and an opportunity to obtain the bronze award in the Kennel Club’s Good Citizen Dog Scheme.
