Latest News - Rights of Way Closures
Twelve public rights of way are closed across the Borough this summer to allow Balfour Beatty to undertake refurbishment works to the electricity pylons and cables, which run overhead. For more information, please use the link on the right-hand side of this page.

The Parks & Countryside service manages 77km or 48 miles of public rights of way throughout the Borough. This total is made up of four different types of right of way:

  • Footpaths
  • Bridleways
  • Restricted Byways
  • Byways

The information on these pages will help you to understand your basic rights and responsibilities in the use and management of the public paths and ways in the Borough. It should be helpful to users and landowners alike. By using the links below and on the right, information is available on the public's and landowners' rights, diversions and changes and the Council's responsibilities.
