The Maples

As you may be aware we have had some staff changes in recent months so please let me take this opportunity to introduce the new team:-

We are all available to help with any queries that you may have and you can contact us either in person at any of the sessions offered or by telephone.

Take a look below at what sessions are being provided at The Family Tree and Maples Children’s Centres. Sessions will be held at different venues across the area and are free unless otherwise stated.

Some sessions are not suitable for Childminders.

If you have any suggestions or ideas about what you would like to do or see happening at your local Children’s Centre, or know of any groups that would like to be involved, please let us know. We would like to hear from you.

Parent and Baby Courses
These courses are a great way to bond and spend time with your baby. There are limited spaces so please book in advance. Membership prices apply. Please call us on 01344 867317 for more information and to book.

Baby Yoga 6 week course
Yoga is suitable for babies from 6 weeks old to crawling.

Courses start on: Friday 19th February, 9th April, 21st May and 2nd July. Sessions run from 2.00pm – 3.00pm at a cost of £12 for Family Tree or Maples Members or £24 for non-members.

Baby Massage 5 week course
Baby Massage is suitable for babies from 6 weeks to 26 weeks of age.

Courses start on: Tuesday 2nd March, 6th April, 11th May and 15th June

Sessions run from 9.30 am – 10.30 am at a cost of £12 for Family Tree or Maples Members or £24 for non-members.

Breastfeeding Drop In
Call in on Tuesdays from 10.30 am – 12 noon at Langley Hall

Are you new to breastfeeding? Would you like advice and support?

This session is supported by a Breastfeeding Network advisor.

Bumps & Babies
All expectant and new parents will receive a warm welcome. Call in for a cup of tea, take time out to chat, share experiences and make new friends. Have a chat with the Breastfeeding advisor or one of our friendly staff. Pick up some information about what to do in the local area with your new family.

Call in on Tuesdays from 10.30 am – 12 noon at Langley Hall.

Stay and Play / Family Play
If you have children under the age of 5 and would them to gain valuable social skills whilst having lots of fun then the following sessions will be suitable:-

  • Monday’s from 9.30am to 11.30am at The Acorn Centre, Meadowvale.
  • Wednesday’s from 10am to 12noon at Langley Hall
  • Thursday’s from 1.00pm to 3.00pm at The Acorn Centre, Meadowvale. Or
  • Friday’s from 9.30am to 11am at Langley Hall

Sessions will include themed activities, rhyme time and indoor/outdoor play each week.

Messy Play
If you have children under the age of 5 that like to get messy whilst having lots of fun then the Messy Play session will be suitable. There will be lots of things to choose from including paint, water, mud, cornflour, Glue and playdough. Sessions will include themed activities and rhyme time each week. PLEASE BRING A CHANGE OF CLOTHES FOR YOUR CHILD – THEY WILL GET WET & DIRTY!!

Young Parents
Are you a parent under the age of 21?

Come along to the young parents group where you can meet new friends, have fun with your children in safe surroundings and enjoy a light lunch.

There will be themed activities, rhyme time and indoor/outdoor play each week with plenty of space for your children to ‘let off steam’.

Call in on Friday’s from 11.30am to 1.30pm at Langley Hall

Tots talking
Are you concerned about your child’s Speech and Language development?

Come along and have some fun whilst helping your toddler learn to talk.

The Speech & Language Therapy Service will be running these fun sessions for 5 weeks at The Acorn Centre, Meadowvale. Please call to book a place on 01344 867317.

The first session is on Thursday 25th February 10.00 am – 11.00 am then each Thursday for 5 weeks. To benefit from the sessions you should be able to attend all of the 5 weeks offered.

Baby Signing
Want to understand what your baby is trying to say to you?

Come and have some fun and learn some ‘baby sign’.

The Speech & Language Therapy Service will be running these fun sessions for 3 weeks at The Acorn Centre, Meadowvale. Please call to book a place on 01344 867317.

The first session is on Thursday 4th March 11.30 am – 12.30 pm then each Thursday for 3 weeks. To benefit from the sessions you should be able to attend all of the 3 weeks offered.

Shelter Appointments
45 minute advice appointments are offered on selected Wednesday’s at various Children’s Centre locations. PLEASE CALL 01344 312800 to confirm dates and book an appointment.

All sessions / start dates are subject to change.

Those families booked onto courses will be notified of any changes that may affect them as soon as possible.

Should you wish to attend chargeable sessions but are unable to fund them please call us to discuss any help that we may be able to offer you.
