Fairer Contributions Consultation
The Department of Health has recently produced new guidance for Councils on how they should calculate a person’s contribution towards the cost of their non-residential adult social care support and services.
The guidance requires that the new way of charging is implemented from April 2010. The guidance is called 'Fairer Contributions: Calculating an Individual's Contribution to their Personal Budget'.
The new system is intended to be fairer for all people, so that people know up front what money they are entitled to from the Council for their support and how much they will have to contribute themselves.

What are we asking people’s views on?
There is a new system for calculating people’s contribution to the cost of their adult social care services. We are required by Government to put this new system into action. This will mean a change in the way people’s contributions are worked out.
We want to hear the views of people about the changes we have proposed. We are seeking your views.
In the downloads section on the right hand side of this page is the consultation document along with an easy read version. There is space in this document for you to write your comments on the proposed changes.

Two public meetings will be arranged for March which will open for anyone to attend to give their views on the consultation. Details of the meetings will be posted as soon as possible.
The closing date for the consultation is Friday 26th March at 5pm.
