Forestcare Emergency Response Service

Paul, Jane and Elaine in the control roomForestcare is Bracknell Council’s Emergency Response Service operating from our purpose-built control centre at Bracknell Depot. We monitor Lifeline alarms in the community and in sheltered housing and provide out-of-hours calls, handling services to Bracknell and other authorities.

Forestcare is accredited by the Telecare Services Association (TSA), Parts 1 and 2. TSA is the community alarm industry body and they inspect our services on an annual basis.

The team

The team is headed by Claire Bennett, the Forestcare Manager. Claire’s main role is to manage contracts with other organisations, take advantage of new business opportunities, financial management, public relations and marketing of Forestcare.

There are three control centre managers, Tracey Simpson, Maureen Coles and Lesley Stangroom. Each control centre manager has a wealth of experience in the control room and ensures the day-to-day smooth operation of the control centre.

There are 15 friendly and well-trained emergency response officers who respond to calls, visit customers to demonstrate and install equipment and visit customers to deal with emergency situations. Two control centre officers work only in the control room, dealing with alarm calls and out-of-hours calls.

All of our staff are police checked, trained in first aid and able to use lifting cushions (used to help lift people when they have fallen).

The services we offer

  • We install and monitor Lifeline alarms for individuals and organisations in the Berkshire area.
  • We monitor alarms in sheltered and supported accommodation and act as keyholder and provide a mobile response when the scheme manager is unavailable or has gone home for the evening.
  • If you are a Bracknell Forest council tax payer we will act as keyholder for you and offer a mobile response service to attend in person.
  • In addition to Lifelines we also rent sensors and other assistive technology equipment, such as monitored smoke and carbon dioxide alarms linked to your Lifeline.
  • Installing and renting small discrete key safes to allow access to your home to the emergency services and or those people to whom you give the pin code.
  • A lone worker monitoring system.
  • We act as keyholder to many Council buildings out of hours and will respond if a fire or intruder alarm is activated.
  • We also deal with emergency calls to Bracknell Forest Council (and other local councils) when the main council offices are shut.
