Housing Register

All local authorities are required by law to have and maintain a list of people who qualify for housing either by the Council or by nomination to Registered Social Landlords (housing associations). This list is called a Housing Register.
Local authorities can only allocate housing to people who are on the Housing Register.
Bracknell's Housing Register consists of the following types of people:
- People who qualify as new applicants, including those owed a duty under Part VII of the Housing Act 1996 as homeless
- Council or housing association tenants who need a transfer
- People who are interested in Shared Ownership
New applicants can be single, tenant single, families sharing accommodation, tenant families or older people depending on the type of accommodation they occupy. Couples are categorised as families.
To apply for a place on our Housing Register, please see Housing Applications.
