Housing Associations - Nomination and Registration
Housing Associations, otherwise known as Registered Social Landlords (RSLs), are non-profit making organisations run by voluntary committees that provide accommodation and related services.
Most RSLs provide government subsidised housing to rent which is of a similar standard to council housing.
RSLs charge ‘target rents’ which are set by the housing corporation at a similar level to council rents. People on low incomes can apply to the Council for Housing Benefit.
What is a Registered Social Landlord?
This is the technical name for social landlords that are registered with the Housing Corporation, a national government agency which regulates RSLs, to provide social housing.
Most are housing associations, but there are also trusts and co-operatives. RSLs run as businesses but don't trade for profit.
As the Council has a limited supply of council housing, we work closely with RSLs to provide additional housing.
How can I apply for housing with an RSL?
Information about RSLs in the Bracknell Forest area can be downloaded on the right.
RSLs will normally only accept nominations from the Council's Housing Register.
