Neighbourhood Action Groups

Bracknell Forest Council and Thames Valley Police are working together with local communities to target the issues that the public have identified as being the things that matter to them, for example anti-social behaviour, speeding, parking and litter.

To help them do this the Borough has been divided into 14 neighbourhoods each with their own Neighbourhood Action Group (NAG). These NAGs are volunteer working groups made up of representatives from the local neighbourhood policing team, borough and parish councillors, council officers, local businesses, residents, community associations, neighbourhood watch and local schools. They plan and organise work and activities that help address local concerns, feeding information back to the police, council service departments and other organisations and help influence the services provided. They also play a key role in reporting back to their local communities the work that has been done.

Each Neighbourhood Action Group sets its own priorities following consultation with the public through a combination of public meetings (Neighbourhood Forums) and forms available online and in Town and Country. This consultation was last carried out in the autumn of 2007 when we received 1576 replies to the question ‘What three things would you like to see improved in your neighbourhood?’ You can download a copy of the full results using the link on the right hand side of this page. The top five concerns across the Borough were:

  1. Parking
  2. Speeding
  3. Litter, dog mess and broken glass
  4. Youths
  5. Trees, hedges and bushes
