Major achievements 2010/11

Parking was a major issue

We Did

  • Introduced time restricted parking in Larges Lane coupled with additional parking bays at the Gypsy Lane and Larges Lane intersection so that parents could drop off and pick up their children who attend St Joseph’s school.
  • Asked that the Headteacher make this known to parents and request that they avoid parking in Drayton.
  • We have undertaken yellow lining in Tebbit Close to reduce parking congestion and intend to add additional yellow ling to improve the access point for Winterborne Court
  • We are introducing parking restrictions on the bend of Brownrigg Cresent and Bluebell Hill to remove the “blind bend” effect caused by parked cars
  • We have made funding available to improve and double the parking bays in Lily Hill Drive
  • We are actively engaging the College on the topic of their travel plan which is part of the planning permission for the college. In particular we are searching for a way to reduce student and tutor parking in the Goodways estate.
  • We are looking at ways to use our Accelerated Funding
  • We have installed post and rail to preserve the open space at the intersection between Deepfield Road and Park Road
  • The Council does not currently operate a residents parking only scheme though it hasn’t been ruled out

Litter and fly tipping was an issue

We Did

Raised this with the Environment Department and we now have the 2nd lowest recorded incidents of litter and fly tipping in the North of the Borough so still a way to go.
