Housing - Information and Advice

The Housing Act 1996 (as amended by the Homelessness Act 2002) requires local authorities to provide housing advice, information and assistance.

If there is anything you need to know about that is not covered here, please visit the National Benefit Leaflets website or you may find it useful to contact the Citizens Advice Bureau.

Housing - Domestic Violence

Domestic abuse is a crime and is unacceptable. No one has the right to make you leave your home. However, if it is not a safe place, the local authority has a duty to assist you if it is unreasonable for you to remain in your home as a result of violence or abuse. We provide information relating to domestic abuse and local initiatives such as the Sanctuary Scheme.
