Bracknell Business Against Crime (BBAC)

Bracknell Business Against Crime was set up in September 2003 to help reduce crime and fear of crime within Bracknell town centre. BBAC currently has a membership of 35 retailers who meet bi - monthly to discuss problems within the town centre and Peel Centre.

The scheme has been a huge success to date. The number of incidents reported by the town centre cameras has fallen from 124 in June 2006 to 44 in June 2008. These incidents include anti-social behaviour, pick-pocketing and offences involving drugs and alcohol. Shoplifting offences have fallen by 60% over the same period.

All retailers who are signed up to the scheme have access to town centre radios so they can contact one another as well as the town centre police team.

Over the next year, we hope to increase the number of retailers who are signed up to the scheme and to reduce crime even further within the town centre area.

This leads to a better environment for retailers and a safer, more secure shopping environment for the consumer.
