Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership (CDRP)

The 1998 Crime and Disorder Act set up Crime and Disorder Partnerships throughout England and Wales to make key agencies work together to reduce crime and disorder. These partner agencies are the local authority, police, police authority, fire service and the primary care trust (PCT). The Bracknell Forest CDRP has worked hard for the past ten years to make Bracknell Forest a safer place.

The Bracknell Forest Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership is one of a number of themed partnerships forming the wider Bracknell Forest Partnership (BFP) and uses a multi-agency approach.

The CDRP priorities for the next 3 years (2008-11) are:

  • Reduce the number of victims of crime, in particular those crimes which have the most impact on the victim and those which are most frequently reported. This includes crimes which are known to be under-reported by victims.
  • Reduce the fear of crime and disorder while at the same time encouraging personal responsibilities to keep safe.
  • To address issues raised by the community and to give the community a voice in community safety issues.
  • Reduce the harm caused by drugs and alcohol
  • Address and reduce anti-social behaviour
  • Ensure that all development in Bracknell Forest takes full account of the implications of community safety.

In 2007, the Government issued regulations requiring all CDRPs to undertake a strategic assessment of crime and disorder, including substance misuse, in their local area and to produce a three-year plan. This document is the Bracknell Forest CDRP Partnership Plan 2008-2011 and will be reviewed annually to reduce crime and disorder further.
