Management operator appointed for Buckler’s Park Community Hub

Work to open Buckler’s Park Community Hub in Crowthorne has moved one step closer, with the appointment of Age Concern Bracknell Forest (ACBF) as the new hub operator.

Age Concern Bracknell Forest will breathe life into the hub, using the range of facilities, including café, large sports hall, meeting rooms and tennis courts, to offer a number of activities and services to local people of all ages.

Ideally located against the back-drop of Buckler’s Forest, a popular spot for walking and cycling, the aspiration is for the hub to start serving the community within the next few months.

Abby Thomas, assistant director for the chief executive’s office, said:

“We are delighted to have successfully appointed Age Concern Bracknell Forest as the management operator for the hub.

“Our vision has always been for this hub to bring people of all ages together, whether to enjoy a cup of tea and a chat to reduce feelings of social isolation, or to get active using the sports facilities, to help with mental health and wellbeing. We look forward to the hub becoming the beating heart of the whole community.”

Andrew Eltham, CEO of ACBF, said:

“Age Concern Bracknell Forest is committed to engaging communities by bringing people of all ages together. Our traditional name no longer defines us, as we believe everyone can make a difference in creating a vibrant community.

“We recognise that having people of all ages use our charitable services will help build informal networks and support systems which can then filter through to a wider audience. We envision Buckler’s Park Community Hub as the next phase of our community-driven efforts, focused on health, sports, fitness and wellbeing for all ages. Together with our local community, we will achieve endless possibilities.”

Bracknell Forest Council will now work with ACBF to get the building ready for opening. Further details of the opening date will be issued in due course. In the meantime, anyone wishing to enquire about delivering their classes or activities at the hub, should contact Angela Harding, lead events and community officer, for more information.
