Organising a wedding with Bracknell Forest Register Office
The staff at the register office are an enthusiastic team who will work with you to ensure your ceremony is exactly as you want it and carried out in accordance with law.
We can offer everything from a very simple and short ceremony in the blue room, to a full ceremony in the ceremonial room with extra vows and readings, and everything in between. Due to the size of the room, the only enhancement possible in the blue room is the standard extra vows.
You can find out more about our venues on the venues for civil marriages and partnerships page.
What do I need to do?
Firstly, you need to decide when and where you would like to get married or form a civil partnership. If the venue is within Bracknell Forest, please contact the register office and we will make the provisional booking for you and guide you through the next steps.
We are happy to take a booking however far in advance you require, although the legal preliminaries can only be started 12 months in advance.
Once you have booked your ceremony, you will need to give notice which involves a meeting with the registrar in the area where you live. You can find out more on our giving notice page. Once you have both given your notices, your booking will become secured.
Personalising your ceremony
At the time of booking, we will send you our ceremony choices leaflets. These will help to explain how the ceremony can be personalised. We can't amend the actual ceremony very much, as a lot is required by law, but you can decide which words you wish to use, and there are other enhancements available for ceremonies not held in the blue room.
You may pay your fees in full when you make your ceremony booking or at any time afterwards. We do ask that fees are paid approximately six months before, but no later than three months before your ceremony. You can pay your fees by cash, cheque or debit/credit card.
See the register office fees and charges page for details of prices.
Changing a booking
If you need to make any changes to the date, time or location of your ceremony after the initial booking has been taken, please contact the register office with the details. Please also note that if you are changing the location of your ceremony and have already given your notice of marriage or civil partnership, you will be legally required to give a fresh notice which will state the amended venue and you will have to pay the notice fee again.
Cancelling a ceremony
If you need to cancel your booking before any fees have been paid, an email or letter will be required. If you have paid your fees in full, you may be entitled to a part or full refund of the balance, depending where the ceremony was to take place.
The register office is open Monday to Friday 9.30am to 4.30pm (excluding Bank Holidays).
