Bracknell's outdoor market opens for business

21 July 2014

A new outdoor Bracknell Market has set up shop in the town centre.

Bracknell Forest Mayor Cllr Alan Kendall cut the ribbon on Friday, 18 July, to launch the market, which will run every Friday and Saturday from 9am to 4pm.

The new market, on High Street (East) between Peacock's and the Post Office, will provide a temporary home to a small selection of independent traders. The council has been working with Cotswold, its current market operator, to allocate space to a variety of traders. The new market  includes:

  • Fresh fruit and vegetables
  • Fresh meat
  • Flowers
  • Continental meats
  • Jewellery

High Street (East) will be Bracknell Market's temporary home for the next few years; it will be moved to Market Square after work on the Winchester House site (the former 3M building) has been completed.

Cllr Marc Brunel-Walker, executive member for economic development and regeneration, said: "It's great news that the new temporary outdoor market is open to provide residents and visitors with a new and different type of shopping experience in Bracknell town centre.

"It will also help to increase footfall, providing a boost to other businesses, while the regeneration work continues."
